What's with some people?

Saturday night, after a little too long at the mall we stopped in at a craptastic family-style restaurant since Ryan was worn out and getting hungry and it was the closest place to grab a bite. They put us under the A/C vent (it's cold out, why they had the A/C on, I've no idea). It was freezing. I had to put a hat and sweater on the boy because he was shivering. So now, he was worn out and cold. The food was very slow in coming. So add hungry to the mix. Naturally, being a baby, he started fussing. We picked him up to rock him and walk him so that we didn't bother the other customers more than necessary.

On a scale of obnoxious restaurant babies, I'd give him about a 4 or 5. He let out a quick shriek once, but that was it. We were in a place where kids eat free, and every table had kids, so you'd think it'd be a kid-friendly place, right? Well, the second time hubs got up to walk the boy, the woman behind him harshly says, "that baby needs to be spanked, not walked."

Um, yeah. Thanks to whatever gods were listening in, I did not hear her. If I had, wrath of mommy would have rained down for sure. My brain would have been saying, "we're trying to calm him and not disturb you, no need to be offensive," but my mouth would have been saying, "who the fuck do you think you are, bitch?"

Like smacking a 10-month old, tired, cold, and hungry baby is going to quiet him down... What an idiot. Not that I'm in favor of spanking at any age anyway, except maybe for bitchy women in their mid-30s in craptastic family-style restaurants. Maybe she could learn from a swift kick to the head :)
