lost dog

Ugh, so pissed about my neighborhood ordinances. There were city fireworks last night and we found a very spooked little pit bull a block from our house. We took him home and I quickly got some signs up with his picture -- flash forward to this morning and the only call I've gotten is from the PD telling me to take them down immediately or I'll be sited with a misdemeanour. Give me a fucking break. We don't have a local pound, so I've two options. Take the dog to the SPCA 40 miles away knowing full well his owner probably isn't going to think to look there, or let the dog go again. We took him for a walk this morning thinking we'd lead us to his house, but he was too busy marking every bush in the 'hood to lead anywhere. I can't keep him. I'm not taking a strange pit bull in my house with the baby. No way. He seems very sweet natured and doesn't bark, but I'm not risking it. I feel bad because it's like 100 degrees outside and I want to let him in, but nope.

Sigh, what to do, what to do.
