Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh. Two of my friends are up for the same job. Getting it means one will be staying in the area for 3 more years, not getting it means I don't know what for the other one. It was kind of a last hope for both of them as this year's round of new hires is just about over. God, the academic job market sucks. I don't know how universities can justify accepting new PhD students when there will only be jobs for about 5% of them, if even that many.

In other news, I attended a 20-year class reunion on Saturday. It was the class ahead of me, mine is next year. What a trip. Most of my friends were that class, but it was weird in that I didn't know or recognized a lot of people -- then there was the "I recognize the face, but the name doesn't ring any bells" and vice versa. I guess that's because I didn't have classes with the vast majority of them, so it was restricted to who I hung out with or who went to the same parties that I did. My reunion will be different, as I knew pretty much everyone in my entire class. At the 10-year, there was only one person I didn't remember. That party, the 10-year, was a blast. Hopefully the next one will be just as good.

And lastly -- Bob wants to play in the World Series of Poker. I guess there's a cheaper buy-in than the $10K one. Thank god because I'd have a really hard time saying 'sure honey' to $10K. Hehe. I think I'll stay home though. I'm kinda burnt on Vegas -- I've been there enough times to see everything I want to see, and the shows I'd want to see again probably wouldn't appreciate an infant in the audience and clubbing would be out, since Bob would be playing and so I'd have the baby with me -- and despite how much Ryan likes to dance with me, I doubt they'd let an infant in :)

Speaking of Ryan... he slept last night from 7pm to 7am for the first time. Well, relatively slept... he woke at 9 and 10 and 10:30 and 11:30 and 1:30 and 2:30 and 4:30 and 5:30 and 6:30. But since it's actually the first time we've gotten him down before 10, it's progress. Now if we can just break him of the hourly waking after 1:30, that'd be great. Heh.
