new woman
2006-05-12 - 4:49 p.m.

Woo hoo. I finally got my hair cut yesterday. It hadn't been cut since a few days before my wedding. I can't believe I let it go that long. I'd been at my wits' end with it back in January and had made an appointment, but I ended up going into labor and having to cancel. Ha! I finally couldn't take it anymore and had my mom made an appointment a week ago at a place near her house, so she could watch the baby while I was there. But when I showed up, the stylist had forgotten to pencil me in, and we had to reschedule. It finally happened yesterday. I had so much hair, it was halfway down my back and had very much become the baby's plaything/slurp-thing (which I have to say is seriously nasty...) There was enough cut off to donate it to Locks of Love. Hooray. I'd been wanting to do that for some time.

Now it's shoulder-length with a bit of a flip. I quite like it. I feel like a new woman. I went out and bought new make-up to go with it. And for the first time in my life, I found a shade of pinkish-peach lipstick that I really love. Of course, it's a limited edition one. I swear, they put out a tv show I like and it will get cancelled after four episodes. They put out a lipstick I like and it's only available for the summer season. Classic. I did not buy more than one (because, well, I haven't used up a whole tube of lipstick since I was in high school) although with my luck, this will be the time I should have ;)

In other news, I got a bouquet of flowers for Mom's Day today from my uncle. It was the sweetest thing, and completely unexpected. Ryan will finally be meeting his great-grandma on my father's side this Sunday. I haven't taken him to see her yet because I'm worried about taking an infant to the convalescent home, but my mom's asked me not to wait any longer. I'm not even sure they'll let me take him in, but we'll see. If not, I'll have Dad bring her outside to meet him.
