Hello baby Ryan Sebastian joined us on January 10th at 10:22pm. My water had broken, and my temp was up, so the OB wanted him out in 24 hours or less. The quickie birth story: My water broke at 5am without prior contractions, but they started in within the hour. By 11, they were 4 minutes apart and we headed to my OB who immediately sent me to L&D. By about 5pm, I hadn't dilated beyond 1cm and they amped me up on Pitocin an hour later. I have to say I'm definitely a hypnobirthing beliver now. It was all totally manageable, even post Pit. But I'd already decided if they had to Pit me, I was taking the "walking epi". No regrets there. It wasn't my original plan, but as we know these things aren't always perfect. The Pit worked and 3 hours later I was +2 and ready to push. Talking about fast acting! Ha! Not sure if going 1cm to 10 would have been quite so pleasant as the first 13 hours was without the epi. An hour of pushing (which seemed more like 5 minutes really -- the hypno worked great there because I still felt all the pressure). The breathing down technique definitely worked better for me than bearing down. I tried both and just petered out when I held my breath and bore down. Ryan's adorable and is a latching champ who wants to suckle for an hour and a half every 2 hours. Heh... not too sure how keen I am on that one, but I'm hanging there. Hopefully there will be milk soon. Pictures coming soon. |
